A weekly studio-style session that’s focused but low-demand—space to go deep on your ideas without pressure or performance.
Who it’s for
Young people aged 11–18 who:
- love making art (at any level)
- want calm, structured freedom to explore
- thrive with gentle guidance rather than high demands

- Siobhán — qualified counsellor and creative arts practitioner
- Marie — Creative Neurodivergent, artist–educator
Two art lovers who get how brains work differently, and design sessions that support that.
What we do each week
- Choice-based projects (drawing, painting, collage, mixed media, zines, illustration)
- Mini skill prompts you can use—or skip
- Individual guidance + optional short demos
- Portfolio time for those building GCSE/college applications
Low-demand by design
- no forced icebreakers or spotlight moments
- opt-in sharing; you can pass any time
- visual schedule & clear options every session
- quiet corners + movement breaks welcome
- bring your headphones; we have spares too
- communication options: talk, gesture, or sticky-note requests
Practical info
- When: Tuesdays, 10:30–12:00 (arrivals from 10:25)
- Where: The Nook in Perranporth
- Price: £10 per session • £40 block booking
- Ages: 11–18 (we group by interest/pace, not just age)
What to bring
- water bottle
- clothes you don’t mind getting painty
- optional: sketchbook, favourite pens/pencils
All core materials are provided.
Safeguarding & access
- Facilitators are DBS-checked and trauma-informed.
- Parent/carer welcome to settle for the first 10 minutes if helpful.
- Emergency contact + relevant access info gathered at booking.
- The venue is 90% accessible it has two steps into the building . Tell us what you need—we’ll adapt.
FAQs
My young person is anxious about new groups. Can we try it?
Yes. They can arrive a few minutes early to see the space. Sitting out and observing is okay. Just drop us an email to let us know you are coming for a try out.
Is it suitable for ADHD/Autistic young people?
Absolutely. Sessions are structured with flexibility, clear choices, visual supports, and no social pressure.
Do you set homework or grades?
No grades, no homework—just optional prompts and real skills.
Can we start mid-term?
Yes, if spaces are available.
